INJURY TO KAREN PUTS DAMPER ON
MILNGAVIE MATCH-PLAY TIES

An injury to Karen Maxwell, the No 4 seed from the host club, Milngavie, took the shine off an excellent day’s match-play in glorious weather when the Dunbartonshire & Argyll women’s county golf championship continued today.
Karen went over her ankle and had to retire from her first-round tie against the 13th qualifier, Margaret Kinvig (Vale of Leven). By the end of the day Karen was on crutches after receiving treatment.
Jill Meldrum, the 14-year-old top qualifier from Dullatur, continued her progress to the last four with good wins over Margaret Stirling (Cardross) and Jill Foggo (Milngavie).
On Wednesday morning, Jill, the Scottish Under-14 girls champion, will play Babs Robertson (Helensburgh), the No 5 qualifier, while the other semi-final will feature the No 2 seed, Helen Faulds (Douglas Park) against another Scotland senior team player, Anna Telfer (Milngavie).
