HARGAN CHASING FIFTH MIDLOTHIAN
TITLE WIN IN A ROW AT NEWBATTLE

Mortonhall’s Claire Hargan is still on course to capture the Midlothian women’s county golf championship for the fifth year in a row.
In this year’s event at Newbattle Golf Club, Dalkeith, Claire swept into the last four today (Friday) with two smooth wins in which she did have to play the last three or four holes.
In Sunday’s second semi-final, Claire, who qualified in the No 3 position, will meet the No 2 seed, Claire MacDonald (Gullane Ladies).
The first semi-final will be an all-Mortonhall match between the top qualifier, Belinda Murphy, who lost at the 19th to Claire Hargan in last year’s final, and Tracy Laughland, the No 4 seed.

TOP THREE HAVE TO PULL OUT OF EAST
LOTHIAN COUNTY MATCH-PLAY

None of the top four finishers in the qualifying round of the East Lothian women’s county champion are North Berwick figured was available due to work commitments for the two-day match-play stages which start on Monday.
Former professionals Lesley Nicholson (74) and Hilary Wardell (77) as well as county title-holder Fiona Prior (75) all have to withdraw their names from the draw.
That left former Scottish champion Jayne Smith (Gullane), captain of this year’s Scotland team, for the women’s home internationals at Dunbar, to head the 16 qualifiers with a 77.
