CLAIRE AITKEN WINS CRITCHLEY

SALVER BY FIVE STROKES

AT SUNNINGDALE

Claire Aitken (The London) continued her excellent season by winning the Critchley Salver over 36 holes at Sunningdale Golf Club on Tuesday.
She had an aggregate of five-under-par 143 to win by five strokes from former Curtis Cup player and past British champion Emma Duggleby (Malton & Norton) and Emma Lyons (West Surrey).
This season Claire, pictured right, has already won the Hampshire Rose outright and the Roehampton Gold Cup jointly. Last week she reached the quarter-finals of the English championship before losing to Scottish open stroke-play champion Melissa Reid who went on to lose to Naomi Edwards in the final.
Claire had the second best score of three-under-par 71 (bettered only by Emma Duggleby’s 70) over the Sunningdale Old Course and she had the best score of two-under-par 72 for the New Course.
