ANNE WALKER SENDS GOOD
NEWS FROM CALIFORNIA
ABOUT "ROSIE" NIVEN
Anne Walker, originally from Strathaven but California-based for a good few years now, has sent a progress report on Roseanne Niven, the Scottish Under-18 champion last year from Crieff, and a freshman student at the University of California Berkeley since early in the year.
Anne, beaten by Vikki Laing in the Scottish girls' final of 1997 at Dunfermline, went with Vikki to the same university and after four successful years on the American circuit, she stayed on to become assistant women's team coach at the university.
Here's the news from Anne (pictured above on the right, guiding one of her team players):

"Rosie is doing just fine. She is a GREAT young lady, super team-mate and is going to be a very good leader in time. Obviously she has struggled with the adjustment to longer, narrower, sometimes more demanding golf courses.
"Her short game has improved dramatically and when she gets her confidence back off the tee we are sure that we are going to see her atop some leaderboards."
