FIFE STUDENT PETER IS ROOKIE
OF YEAR OF OLD DOMINION
CONFERENCE

Peter Latimer from Markinch, Fife, a freshman student at Guilford College, Greensboro in North Carolina, has been named Rookie of the Year in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
Latimer, a winner on his first season on the American college golf circuit, was also named to the All-Old Dominion Athletic conference team, selected by the head golf coaches in the conference.


RHYS DAVIES RANKED NO 1 ON US COLLEGE CIRCUIT

Edinburgh-born Welshman Rhys Davies, in his final year at East Tennessee State University, tops GolfWeek’s US college golf rankings this week for the second time in two months.
Walker Cup player Davies, brought up at Bridgend, South Wales, has won 10 times in his four years on the American college circuit.
The next best placed British & Irish players in the latest rankings are Niall Turner (Minnesota University) from Cork in 24th place; Seamus Power (East Tennessee State) from Waterford in 45th place and Gareth Shaw (East Tennessee State) from Lisburn, Northern Ireland in 46th spot.


GLASGOW STUDENT JOINT FIFTH IN LOUISIANA

Stephen Clark from Glasgow, a junior student at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, finished joint fifth in the Mid-Continent Championship college golf tournament at Golf Club at Stonebridge, Shreveport in Louisiana.
The high finish earned Clark a place in the All-Mid-Continent “team” of six, a team that never plays any matches but is chosen by the golf coaches in the conference and reflects a player’s high standing.
Clark had rounds of 74, 73 and 69 for a level par total of 216 over the par-72, 6,954yd course.
Team-mate Alex Hogben, a 6ft 3in freshman student from Manchester, finished joint 17th in a field of 35 players with scores of 76, 71 and 76 for 223.
Tim Streng (Western Illinois) won the individual honours by three strokes with rounds of 71, 69 and 68 for eight-undere-par 208.
Western Illinois (863) won the team event by one shot from Oral Roberts with Southern Utah (871) third and UMKC (875) fourth of seven contesting colleges
