TARA IN TOP 10 AFTER FIRST ROUND
AT ATHENS, GEORGIA

Irish Curtis Cup player Tara Delaney was lying joint eighth after the opening round of the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic tournament at the University of Georgia course at Athens, Georgia.
The Carlow student at Kent State University, Ohio had a two-over-par round of 71 over the 6,260yd course.
Tara had birdies at the foufrth and 14th and bogeys at the second, sixth, 16th and 18th to be three strokes behind the leader, Melissa Eaton (Louisiana State).
Tara's older sister Karen, also a Kent State student, scored an 83 which put her in joint 80th place in a field of 96 players. Karen, a former Irish girls champion, had a triple bogey 8 at the long seventh and a double bogey 7 at the long 18th in halves of 42 and 41.
