ENGLISH GIRLS HELP BAYLOR TAKE
BIG EARLY LEAD AT RIO VERDE

English girls Sian Reddick from Folkestone and Hannah Burke from Hertfordshire helped Baylor University, Texas to open up a nine-stroke lead after the first round of the Rio Verde Invitational women's college tournament over the 6,277yd, par-72 Quail Run course at Rio Verde, Arizona.
Junior year student Sian, pictured far right, was lying fourth in the individual scoreboard after a 72 which had birdies at the third and eighth but bogeys at the 10th and 14th in halves of 34 and 38.
Hannah, left of two pictures, finished the day in joint 25th place on 76 after being up with the leaders, having reached the turn in two under par 34 with birdies at the third, sixth and seventh and one bogey, at the fourth.
But she lost her way after the turn, double-bogeying the 13th and short 16th, also shedding single shots to par at the 11th, 15th and 17th with only one compensating birdie, at the 12th, in an inward six-over 42.
Also on the 76 mark is Sally Hinton, a senior Missouri State University student from Bridgnorth, Shropshire. Sally had birdies at the sixth and ninth and with only one bogey, at the second, she was going well with 35 to the turn.
Then she bogeyed five holes out of six in a row from the 10th to take 41 shots to come home.
Sharing 60th place on 79 is another Missouri State student, freshman Stacey Rodger from Mile Oak, Sussex.
Stacey reached the turn in 40 with shots dropped at the second, third, fourth and fifth. She dropped further strokes at the 11th, 14th, 17th and 18th and had only one birdie all day, at the short 16th.
Allison Martin (Baylor) and Anita Ojeda (Arkansas-Little Rock) lead the field on 69, two ahead of Kim Kester (Toledo).
Baylor (289) lead the team event from Toledo and Arkansas-Little Rock, both on 298, with Texas Tech next on 300. Missouri State are lying eighth of 18 on 305.
