SENIOR WOMEN'S HOME INTERNATIONALS

ENGLAND MAKE IT FOUR IN A
ROW AT HAMILTON

England maintained their monopoly of the senior women’s home internationals championship when they won the title at Hamilton Golf Club today for the fourth year in a row.
No other country has won the title since it was first played in 2003.
England completed their 100 per cent record over the three days by beating Wales 4 ½-2 1/2, taking the foursomes 1 ½- ½ and the singles 3-2.
Scotland finished runners-up with 2pt by beating Ireland 4 ½-2 ½. Scotland edged ahead 1 ½- ½ in the foursomes and then won the singles 3-2.
The most successful individual player of the tournament honour was shared by two England players, Christine Quinn and Christine Watson. Both ended with 5pt, Quinn from six games, Watson from five.
Scotland’s most successful individual was their senior women’s match-play champion Fiona de Vries (St Rule). The St Andrews hotel proprietor gained 3pt, half-a-point ahead of Moira Thomson (North Berwick) and Helen Faulds (Douglas Park).
