ATLANTA SCOTS COME DOWN FROM THE CLOUDS

Clayton State University golf team members Neil McBride from Glasgow and Daniel Sommerville from St Andrews were brought down to earth with a bump after helping their Atlanta college score their first team win for six years.
In their next event, this week, Clayton State finished joint 16th in a field of 18 teams for the Cougar Invitational tournament at Green Island Country Club, Colombus in Georgia.
Over a short course – par-71, 6,435yd – Neil scored 76 and 78 for 154 and a share of 73rd place while Daniel had 81 and 74 for joint 80th place on 155.
Neil had one double bogey in his first round and two double bogeys (at the first and seventh) in his second round.
Daniel had double bogeys at the 15th and 16th in his first round and a double bogey at the 10th on the second circuit. But he did birdie the fourth, seventh, 12th and 16th for his 74.
The joint winners were Johan Cronvall (Georgia College) and Chris Wolfe (Armstrong Atlantic) on four-under-par 138.
