US COLLEGE TOURNAMENT

DANIELLE HAS OPENING 77 AT DAYTONA BEACH

Irish international team player Danielle McVeigh from Kilkeel, Northern Ireland shot a five-over-par 77 in the first round of the NCAA Women’s Fall Preview college golf tournament over the Legends Course at LPGA International, Daytona Beach in Florida.
Danielle, a freshman student at Texas A&M University, started at the 10th hole with a double bogey and had another at the short third. She also bogeyed the 16th, 17th and sixth holes but did have birdies at the 12th and 13th.
No other Texas A&M player had a better score than Miss McVeigh who is sharing 35th place in a field of 90 with former British girls champion Azahara Munoz (Arizona State University) from Spain.
Another past British girls champion, Anna Nordqvist (Arizona State) from Sweden had a 73 as had Germany’s Sandra Gal (Florida).
Pernilla Lindberg (Oklahoma State) from Sweden scored a 75.
American Nicole Smith (University of Tennessee) leads the field by three strokes with a 67.
