LPGA QUALIFYING

VIKKI LAING SURVIVES HALFWAY CUT

Vikki Laing slipped back with a second-round 77 for a 36-hole tally of five-over-par 149 but the Musselburgh player, in joint 52nd place, survived the halfway cut in the LPGA Qualify School sectional tournament at Mission Hills Country Club, Rancho Mirage in California.
The leading 84 players with totals of 150 went forward to the final two rounds which will decide the top 30 players and ties who will qualify for the LPGA Final Qualifying School over six rounds at Daytona Beach, Florida from November 29 to December 3.
Samantha Head from Bedfordshire, all out to join her twin sister Johanna on the LPGA Tour, was lying fourth on 141 with rounds of 69 and 73.
