FUTURES TOUR

VIKKI LAING OPENS WITH 72 ON FUTURES TOUR

Vikki Laing from Musselburgh had a one-over-par 72 in the first round of the final United States Futures Tour event of the season at Capital Hills at Albany Golf Club, New York State.
Vikki had halves of 36 to be sharing 31st place behind Korean leader Ji Min Jeon who had a 66 over the 6,121yd course.
Brenda McLarnon from Belfast and Samantha Head from Bedford are joint 53rd on 74. Brenda had halves of 35 and 39,
Londoner Polly Willett rallied from an outward half of 41 to return a 76 to be in joint 74th place.
The Futures Tour's 19th event carries considerable weight this weekend. The top five money-table leaders at the end of Sunday's final round earn fully exempt 2007 LPGA Tour status.
The next 10 players on the money list, who are not already non-exempt LPGA Tour members, automatically advance into the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament in December, avoiding the LPGA's sectional qualifying stages.
Players who currently have non-exempt LPGA status will be skipped for the next available non-LPGA player.
