EUROPEAN SENIOR WOMEN'S TEAM CHP

ENGLAND WOMEN THROUGH TO
OVER-50S FINAL IN BELGIUM

England toppled the No 1 seeds Spain 3-2 in today’s semi-finals of the European senior women’s amateur team golf championship at Royal Waterloo Golf Club, near Brussels in Belgium.

The cock-a-hoop English, who had only squeezed into the top match-play flight in the last of the four places, now play France to the over-50s title. France beat Italy 3-2.
England got their noses in front by winning the only foursomes. Sue Westall (Copt Heath) and Geraldine Bray (Littlestone) came back from three down with five to play to beat Spain’s Beatriz Ramirez de Haro and Christina Marsans by one hole.
In the singles, English seniors champion Christine Watson (Beaconsfield) and Chris Quinn (Hockley) both scored good wins to take the team through to the final.
