VIKKI'S BEST START FOR SOME TIME
Musselburgh exile Vikki Laing has made her best tournament start for many a long day in the Alliance Bank Futures Classic tournament at The Links at Erie Village, Syracuse in New York State.
Vikki was in joint 16th place after a first-round, two-under-par 69, three shots behind four players: Americans Leigh Anne Hardin and Danielle Downey, Sweden's Kristina Tucker and Ha-Na Chae, one of a large number of Koreans who are making a good living on the United States' No 2 female pro tour.
Samantha Head from Bedford had a one-over-par 72 to have a share of 47th place but Brenda McLarnon fronm Belfast did not have the best of days. The former US college circuit player had a 76 to be in joint 100th place.
