SCOTTISH GIRLS' CHAMPIONSHIP
KELSEY LEADING QUALIFIER AT PEEBLES
Nairn Dunbar's 15-year-old Kelsey MacDonald added another notch to her list of achievements this season when she led the 32 qualifiers for the match-play stages of the Scottish Under-18 girls championship at Peebles Golf Club.
Kelsey, who retained her Northern Counties women's championship earlier this year, has broken three course records this season with eight-under-par scores. Now playing off +1, Kelsey had rounds of 69 and 74 for an aggregate of 143 - one ahead of repeating North of Scotland women's champion Michele Thomson (McDonald Ellon) and Jane Turner (Mortonhall), the East of Scotland girls champion. Michele had scores of 71 and 73 while Jane had the lowest round of the day, a 67 in the morning, followed by a 77.
Krystle Caithness (St Regulus), second reserve for the Curtis Cup and winner of this title two years ago, qualified in fourth position with 74 and 71 for 145.
There were praiseworthy rounds of 68 from two other qualifiers, Rachael Livingstone (Musselburgh Old) and Katy McNicoll (Carnoustie Ladies).
