NICK FALDO SERIES FINAL AT CELTIC MANOR

LARBERT LAD'S BLAIRGOWRIE EFFORT NOT

ENOUGH TO QUALIFY FOR FALDO FINAL

We published the results from the third and final Scottish qualifying tournament in the Faldo Series at Blairgowrie earlier this week.

What we did not do was give you some explanatory words to go with the charts. Here, courtesy of Martin Forsyth of the Faldo Press Office, is the story from Blairgowrie:

Graeme Robertson, 18, from Larbert, claimed first place in the third and final tournament in the Scotland region of the Faldo Series 2006.

The tournament was played over the rolling heath-land of Blairgowrie's famous Lansdowne course under clear Scottish skies.

A two-under-par score of 70 was enough to see off the valiant efforts of some very strong contenders. Robertson found himself back at he clubhouse with a victory by a single stroke.

Unfortunately, the Larbert lad's late surge was not been enough to guarantee him a coveted place in this year's Faldo Series Final, as he did not finish top of his age category's Order of Merit.

The following players will be appearing at the event at The Celtic Manor Resort from October 4 to 6:

GRAHAM TURNER, 20, from Penicuik (Under 21 category).

GRAEME MITCHELL, 17, from the Northern Golf Club, Aberdeen.

MICHAEL DAILY, 17, from Bishopton.

MARK BOOKLESS, 16, from Glasgow.

REEVE WHITSON, 14, from Newcastle.

CARLY BOOTH, 14, from Comrie.
