SAM TOP SCOT IN SHARE OF EIGHTH

Sam Binning (Old Ranfurly) had the highest finish of the four Scottish qualifiers for the final day of the McGregor Trophy English Under-16 boys' open stroke-play golf championship at Worthing Golf Club, Sussex today.

Sam, with rounds of 75, 72, 75 and 73 for a total of 295, claimed joint eighth place behind 13-year-old winner Oscar Sharpe (Minchinhampton) who scored 287.

Michael Stewart (Troon Welbeck) finished on 302, Paul Shields (Kirkhill) 308 and Mark Bookless (Sandyhills) 310.
