JUNIOR MASTERS QUALIFIER
GOOD SCORING AT KIRRIE IN
JUNIOR MASTERS QUALIFIER
The scoring was as hot as the weather at Kirriemuir on Tuesday when 16 boys and 10 girls won their way through from Regional Final No 4 to join the field for the Scottish Junior Masters’ Grand Final, to be played over the Gleneagles Hotel’s Queen’s Course on Sunday, October 8.
Scott had halves of 21 and 24pt and, a late finisher, he knocked the clubhouse leader off his perch.
That had been Callum Graham (Milnathort), playing off 10, who had scored 44pt (22-22) and had a better inward half than Gavin Law (Newburgh-on-Ythan) (20) who also had 44pt but halves of 23 and 21.
Ten of the leading boys scored 40pt or over, which represents very good scoring.
In the girls section, the No 1 qualifier was Louise Smith from the home club, Kirriemuir Players. Playing off 17, Louise scored 39pt with 24 out and 15 home. Louise had a net eagle at the fourth.
She won by one point from
Rebecca Wilson, a five-handicapper from Monifieth, finished third with halves of 16 and 20 for a total of 36.
