IRELAND NAME GIRLS' HOME INTERNATIONALS LINE-UP

Following the Lancome Irish girls' (close) amateur championship, the ILGU has announced the Ireland team to play in the Girls' Home International Matches at Portstewart Golf Club, Northern Ireland from August 9 to 11:

Victoria Bradshaw (Bangor)
Louise Coffey (Warrenpoint)
Sarah Cunningham (Ennis)
Sarah Faller (Galway)
Naoimh McMahon (Shannon)
Stephanie Meadow (Royal Portrush)
Louise Mernagh (Woodenbridge)
Linda Toomey (Limerick)
Reserves: 1 Holli Snelling (Killarney), 2 Lucy Simpson (Massereene), 3 Alice Davis (Royal Tara).

STEPHANIE MAKES SURE OF IRISH GIRLS' TITLE

Stephanie Meadow (Royal Portrush), beaten finalist two years ago and beaten in the quarter-finals 12 months ago, has won the Lancome Irish girls' (close) amateur championship at last!
She beat Victoria Bradshaw (Bangor) by 5 and 4 in the final at Malone Golf Club today.
In the semi-finals, Stephanie beat Louise Coffey (Warrenpoint) 5 and 4 while Victoria was a 2 and 1 winner of Louise Mernagh (Woodenbridge).
Results in the quarter-finals were:
Louise Coffey (Warrenpoint) beat Charlene Reid (Gracehill) 7 and 6.
Stephanie Meadow (Royal Portrush) beat Sarah Faller (Galway) 3 and 2.
Victoria Bradshaw (Bangor) beat Sarah Cunningham (Ennis) 3 and 2.
Louise Mernagh (Woodenbridge) beat Kate Gallagher (Claremorris) at 19th.
There were some early surprise results in the match-play stages, including the first-r0und defeat of leading qualifier Alice Davis (Royal Tarlair) by the last qualifier, Louise Coffey - a famous surname from Irish women's amateur golf of the last decade .
The defeat cost Miss Davis her place in the Irish girls' international team for Portstewart.
