BACK TO BACK EAGLES AT BALGOWNIE

CALUM PROVIDES ROYAL ABERDEEN

JUNIOR OPEN HIGHLIGHT

 

Royal Aberdeen youngster Calum Innes had an eagle 2 at the 10th, followed by an eagle 1 at the short 11th in winning the top handicap prize in his club’s junior open at Balgownie today.

Calum had a scratch round of 72 and a net 62 off his handicap of 10. He used a wedge for his second shot at the 345yd 10th hole and a five-iron for his ace at the 166yd 11th.

John Duff, who plays off scratch at Newmachar, had the best scratch score of one under par 71 and two under the CSS.

The tournament attracted a field of 60, including one girl – Eilidh Mackay from Nairn Dunbar. A seven-handicapper, she played off the LGU tees but was allowed four extra strokes and returned a creditable net 75.
