WORLD BOYS TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

 

ENGLAND TRAILING IN JAPAN.

 

England were tied for 12th position in a field of 15 countries at the end of the first day of the Toyota world boys’ golf team championship at Chukyo Golf Club, Toyota-shi in Japan today.

Sweden and Norway made it a good day for Continental Europe by setting the pace on 206 and 207 respectively over the par-72, 6,886yd Ishino course.

Hosts Japan (208) were in third place.

United States, always the favourites, did not do so well this time round. They were in eighth place on 217.

England scored 220 with a 71 from James Watt, a 73 from Luke Goddard and a 76 by Am Hutsby. Tom Hesketh had a non-counting 78 under the best three from four scores to count daily format.
