WEST DIVISION COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP

RENFREWSHIRE MOVE CLOSER TO WEST TITLE

Renfrewshire moved a step nearer clinching the West Division women’s inter-county team championship when they took the foursomes by a 2 ½- ½ pt margin from Ayrshire on the third and final day at East Renfrewshire Golf Club.
Renfrewshire beat Dunbartonshire & Argyll and Lanarkshire in their earlier matches.
Dunbartonshire & Argyll took a 2-1 lead into the singles against Lanarkshire in the battle for second place.

RENFREWSHIRE LEAD AYRSHIRE 2 ½- ½

Foursomes: D Jackson & G McGinlay halved with L Hendry & R Kennedy; M Briggs & K O’Sullivan bt A Thompson & L Keohone 1 hole; C-M Carlton & J Jenkins bt C Malcolm & M McPherson 1 hole (2 ½ - ½).
Singles: Carlton v Hendry, Briggs v D Watt, Jackson v Keohone, L Robertson v Malcolm, G Kyle v McPherson, McGinlay v Kennedy.

LANARKSHIRE ARE LOSING TO D & A 1-2

Foursomes: M Hughes & A Hendry lost to A Laing & S Bishop 4 and 2; E Cuthill & A Young lost to G Webster & K Walker 1 hole; J Wilson & S Wood bt J Galbraith & F McLean 4 and 3 (1-2).
