VIVIEN VICTORIOUS AT FIRST ATTEMPT

Retired physical education teacher Vivien Welsh was the surprise first-time winner of the Scottish Veteran Ladies Golf Association's Highland division championship.
Playing out of Elgin Golf Club, Vivien, who became a member of the Highland vets only this year, beat senior international Christine McAndrew (Nairn Dunbar) by one hole in the final over the Nairn Dunbar links.
In the semi-finals Vivien beat Louise Clark (Nairn) by 5 and 4 while Christine beat Janet Buist (Forres) 6 and 5.
