EAST DIVISION COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP

MIDLOTHIAN'S GOOD START TO TITLE DEFENCE

Scottish title-holders Midlothian made a good start to their defence of the East Division women’s inter-county team golf championship at Dunbar Golf Club today.

They beat Stirling & Clackmannan 6 ½ -2 ½ after taking a 3-0 lead from the morning foursomes.

Claire Hargan (Mortonhall) won the top singles tie for Midlothian, beating Curtis Cup team first reserve Heather MacRae (Dunblane) by 4 and 3.

Fife shade East Lothian 5-4, that vital point of a difference coming from a 2-1 morning lead gained in the foursomes.

Two St Regulus players, Krystle Caithness (St Regulus), Curtis Cup team second reserve, and last year’s Scottish champion, Fiona Lockhart, finished the day as double winners for Fife.
