EAST DIVISION COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP

FIFE BUILD UP TWO-POINT FOURSOMES

LEAD OVER TITLE RIVALS MIDLOTHIAN

Fife set themselves up as favourites to win the East Division women’s inter-county team championship when they took the foursomes 2 ˝- ˝ from Midlothian, the only other team with a 100 per cent record going into the final day at Dunbar Golf Club.

Krystle Caithness and Katrina Milne won the top foursome for Fife. Then Louise Kenney and Jo Carthew were held to a square game by Wendy Nicholson and Karen Marshall before the St Regulus pairing of Elaine Moffat and Fiona Lockhart gained a second morning win for Fife.

In the other match, East Lothian led Stirling & Clackimannan 2-1 after the foursomes.

MIDLOTHIAN TRAIL 2-1 TO FIFE

Foursomes – K Blackwood & C MacDonald lost to K Caithness & K Milne 1 hole; W Nicholson & K Marshall halved with L Kenney & J Carthew; C Hargan & B Murphy lost to E Moffat & F Lockhart 4 and 3 ( ˝ -2 ˝ )

Singles to play: Hargan v Kenney, H Laughland v Caithness, Nicholson v Moffat, R Livingstone v Lockhart, Murphy v Carthew, Blackwood v Milne.

STIRLING & CLACKMANNAN TRAIL 1-2 TO EAST LOTHIAN

Foursomes: S Mitchell & L Robertson lost to F Prior & L Mortensen 1 hole; A Davidson & V Stevenson lost to K Brotherton & E Fairnie 3 and 2; E Allison & H MacRae bt M Thomson & L Fortune 4 and 3 (1-2).

Singles: Robertson v Brotherton, Mitchell v Mortensen, MacRae v Prior, McGregor v J Smith, Stevenson v S McMaster., Allison v Fairnie.
