SGU JUNIOR TOUR

TROON TEENAGER TAMES NEWMACHAR ON

WAY TO SECOND SGU JUNIOR TOUR WIN

Troon teenager Michael Stewart shot a five-under-par round of 67 over Newmachar Hawkshill course, near Aberdeen today on his way to a second win on the Scottish Golf Union Junior Tour this season.

Stewart, only 16, had six birdies in his brilliant first round which put him five shots clear of the field going into the afternoon round.

Michael had a 74 in the afternoon for a three-under-par tally of 141 – seven shots under the combined CSS - to win by five shots from Chris Robinson (Wigtown & Bladnoch) (72-74) with Ross Kellett (Colville Park) third on 147 (75-72).

Play was suspended for an hour in the afternoon when torrential rain flooded the greens temporarily.

Graeme Mitchell (Northern) was the leading North-east player in fourth place on 148 with scores of 72 and 76.
