VIKKI LAING SHARING SECOND PLACE
AT PAC-10 CHAMPIONSHIP IN OREGON

Vikki Laing (University of California) is lying in joint second place, only one stroke behind the leader, with one round to go in the Women’s Pac-10 Conference championship at Trysting Tree Golf Club, Corvallis in Oregon.
The Curtis Cup Scot from Musselburgh matched the par of 72 on the second day for a tally of one-under-par 143.
The new tournament leader is Blair O’Neal (Arizona State) on 142 after a splendid second-round 69.
Sharing second place with Vikki is Swedish player Mikaela Parmlid (Southern California) after rounds of 70 and 73.
First-round leader and a California team-mate of Miss Laing, Sara Huarte dropped back to fourth place with a 74 for 144.
Former British girls open championship beaten finalist (at Blairgowrie), Rachel Bell (Southern California) dropped back to a tie for 46th place after a disappointing 84 for 161.
California, bidding for a sixth team title in the 2002-2003 women’s college season, have opened up a five-stroke lead on 591 ahead of Arizona (596) and Southern California (596) with UCLA fourth on 598.
