SPANISH INTERNATIONAL GIRLS’ OPEN

Four host nation players will contest the semi-finals of the Spanish international girls’ open championship at Villa de Madrid Country Club on Sunday.
All bar one of the 16 qualifiers for the match-play stages were Spaniards so you can look out for at least some of the following players being to the forefront in the British open girls’ championship this summer.

Quarter-final results:
Ana Sanso-Rubert beat Lucia Mar 2 and 1.
Elisa Serramia beat Diana Vazquez 6 and 5.
Asahara Munoz beat Tatiana Morato 3 and 2.
Viviana Millan beat Belen Mozo 1 hole.
Semi-final line-up:
Sanso-Rubert v Serramia.
Munoz v Millan.

JAMIE WINS EDWARD TROPHY

And here’s a bonus for our male readers:
Jamie McLeary (Leven Golf Society) scored an impressive six-stroke win in the prestigious Edward Trophy 36-hole open tournament in very windy conditions over the Glasgow Gailes Golf Club’s links course in Ayrshire on Saturday.
McLeary had rounds of 68 and 70 for four-under-par 138. Runner-up was Scotland team-mate Jonathan King (Glasgow) with a pair of 72s for 144.
