SARA BISHOP WINS D&A
TITLE FOR FIRST TIME

Windyhill player Sara Bishop won the Dunbartonshire & Argyll women's county golf championship for the first time at Douglas Park GC on Thursday. In cold, windy conditions, Sara, the leading qualifier, beat the No 2 seed, 17-year-old girl international Gemma Webster (Hilton Park), by 5 and 3.
Sara played par golf to be six up at the turn but Gemma won back the 10th and 12th to be four down with six to play. Sara took the 13th to be five up again but lost the 14th before clinching the title by winning the 15th.
Gemma won the Helen McGregor Quaich for the best qualifying score by a junior.
In the morning semi-finals, Sara Bishop had beaten Fiona McLean (Hilton Park) by 8 and 6 while Gemma defeated the defending champion, Claire McNeil (Milngavie), by 5 and 3.
The bronze championship was won by Dinah Buchanan (Cardross). She beat Jackie Sinclair (Hilton Park) by 3 and 2 in the final.

Semi-finals _ S Bishop (Windyhill) beat F McLean (Hilton Park) 8 and 6, G Webster (Hilton Park) beat C McNeill (Milngavie) 5 and 3.
Final _ Bishop beat Webster 5 and 3.
