HOW ANNE LAING GOT HER RECORD-EQUALLING
67 IN FIRST ROUND OF "HELEN HOLM" CHAMPIONSHIP

Miss Laing pitched and putted for her birdie 4 at the long second and hit a six-iron tee shot to win three or 4ft on the hole for a birdie 2 at the 130yd fourth.
Anne highlighted her card with an eagle 3 at the 399yd fifth where she got home downwind with a drive and a wedge and holed a 28ft putt.
She two-putted for a birdie 4 at the 411yd ninth hole after getting home with a drive and an eight-iron.
Another birdie was picked up at the long 12th (404yd), where she missed the green with a drive and a three wood but was able to pitch close to set up a 4.
Even great cards have bogeys most of the time and Anne's solitary slip came at the 156yd 14th where she was bunkered off the tee and could not get up and down.
Miss Laing responded to that setback with a great finish in which she birdied three of the last four holes. She hit a five-iron off the tee for position on the fairway at the 436yd par-5 15th; then a five-wood just off the green. Anne pitched and putted for a 4.
At the short 16th (149yd), she hit an eight-iron tee shot to 15ft and downed the putt for a 2.
After a 4 at the 17th, Anne was home in two (drive and eight-iron) at the 429yd, par-5 18th and she two-putted from 20ft for a 4.
Scotland international team-mate and fellow member of the LGU Elite Squad, Clare Queen from Drumpellier took second place among the early finishers with a five-under-par score of 70.
Clare, who won the Scottish women's universities title at Gullane during the week, had the following figures:

OUT 4 5 5 3 3 4 4 3 5 36 (two under).

IN 3 5 4 4 3 4 3 3 5 34 (three under)

Clare, 20, birdied the first, fifth, sixth, 12th, 15th and 17th. She had only one bogey, at the third.

Naomi Edwards, from Ganton, Yorkshire, occupied third place with a 73 (35-38), which included a double-bogey 6 at the 13th.
European women's amateur champion Becky Brewerton from Abergele had to settle for a 74 (36-38 after three bogeys in a row from the 11th and a fourth bogey of an inward half of one-over 38 at the 17th. She birdied the second, seventh, ninth, 10th, 15th and 18th. Her bogey before the turn came at the eighth.
